Covid ‘tripledemic’: Who is eligible for new vaccine as NHS?
The NHS is warning of a potential "tripledemic" this winter, with Covid-19, flu, and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) posing serious risks, especially to vulnerable groups. To mitigate these threats, three vaccines are being offered: the Covid booster, the flu vaccine, and for the first time, an RSV jab.
Eligibility for the vaccines:
- Covid booster: Available for individuals over 65, those with health conditions, care home residents, and frontline healthcare workers.
- Flu vaccine: Offered to those over 65, pregnant women, individuals with long-term health conditions, and young children.
- RSV vaccine: Recommended for pregnant women and people aged 75-79.
These vaccines are key to preventing serious illness, with RSV being particularly dangerous for infants and older adults. To get vaccinated, individuals can book through the NHS app, the website, or by calling 119.
