Russia supplying Iran with intelligence to target US forces, says report

Russia has reportedly been supplying Iran with intelligence that could help Tehran target United States military forces in the Middle East, raising fears of a wider global confrontation as the ongoing war continues to escalate.

According to U.S. officials cited in multiple reports, Moscow has provided Tehran with sensitive information about the locations of American warships, aircraft, and military bases in the region. The intelligence sharing is believed to have helped Iran improve the accuracy of recent drone and missile attacks carried out against U.S. positions during the conflict.

Officials familiar with the matter said the data may include satellite-based tracking and surveillance information that Iran would otherwise struggle to obtain on its own. Analysts say even limited intelligence from Russia could significantly increase Iran’s ability to strike U.S. targets, especially after its own military systems were damaged during the early stages of the war.

Growing alliance between Moscow and Tehran

The reported intelligence sharing highlights the increasingly close relationship between Russia and Iran, two countries that have strengthened military cooperation in recent years while facing sanctions and pressure from Western nations. Experts say the partnership has expanded since Russia’s war in Ukraine, with both countries exchanging weapons, technology, and strategic support.

Security analysts warn that the latest development suggests the conflict could move beyond a regional war

White House responds cautiously

The White House has downplayed the impact of the reported intelligence sharing, saying U.S. forces remain prepared and fully aware of foreign activity in the region. Defense officials said the information provided by Russia has not changed current military operations, but they confirmed that the situation is being closely monitored.

At the same time, American commanders warned that continued cooperation between Russia and Iran could make the conflict more dangerous, especially if attacks on U.S. bases increase. Reports indicate that Iranian strikes have already targeted American facilities in several countries across the Gulf region since the war began.

Fears of wider global conflict

The reports have intensified concerns that the war could expand beyond the Middle East if more countries become involved. Some intelligence assessments suggest that other nations may also consider supporting Iran financially or militarily, which could further complicate efforts to stop the fighting.

Diplomats say the situation remains highly unstable, with no clear sign of peace talks as both sides continue military operations. If the intelligence cooperation between Russia and Iran continues, experts warn the conflict could become one of the most dangerous international crises in recent years.
