U.S. President Donald Trump lashed out at a Fox News reporter after being asked about reports that Russia may be helping Iran target American forces, calling the question “stupid” during a tense exchange at the White House as the war in the Middle East continues to escalate.

The confrontation happened during a roundtable event focused on college sports, where Trump agreed to take a small number of questions from reporters. Fox News correspondent Peter Doocy asked the president about intelligence reports suggesting that Russia had provided Iran with information that could help locate U.S. ships, aircraft, and military bases in the region.

Before the question could be finished, Trump interrupted and dismissed it, saying the topic was not appropriate for the event.
“What a stupid question that is to be asking at this time. We’re talking about something else,” he said, drawing laughter from some people in the room.

Reports of Russia helping Iran increase tensions

The question referred to recent intelligence reports claiming that Moscow may have shared surveillance data with Tehran during the ongoing conflict, potentially allowing Iranian forces to better target U.S. positions in the Middle East. American officials have said the information could include the locations of warships, aircraft, and other military assets.

The White House has not confirmed the details publicly, but defence officials said they are monitoring the situation closely. The reports have raised concerns that the conflict could grow into a wider geopolitical crisis if more major powers become involved.

Trump avoids direct answer

After calling the question stupid, Trump refused to give a clear response about Russia’s role and tried to steer the discussion back to domestic issues. He later allowed the reporter another question but again avoided addressing the intelligence reports directly, instead saying the U.S. was “doing very well” in the war.

The exchange highlighted the president’s often tense relationship with the media, including reporters from outlets that are usually considered friendly to his administration. Analysts noted that Trump has frequently reacted strongly to questions about foreign policy, especially when they involve Russia.

Pressure grows as war expands

The incident comes at a time when fighting involving Iran has spread across several countries in the Middle East, with missile attacks, drone strikes, and military deployments increasing in recent days. The United States has already sent additional aircraft, ships, and troops to the region, while allies including the United Kingdom have also increased their military presence.

Experts say reports of Russian assistance to Iran, if confirmed, could make the conflict far more dangerous by turning it into a confrontation involving multiple global powers.

Despite the growing concern, Trump has continued to insist that the United States is in control of the situation and has repeated his demand that Iran agree to what he calls an “unconditional surrender” before any negotiations can take place.

The tense exchange with the Fox News reporter reflects the political pressure building in Washington as questions increase about how the war is being handled and how far it could spread.
