Alison Brie and Dave Franco have always been candid about their lives, but the couple admit that opening up so much recently has been a little unnerving.

In a new interview, the actors—who first collaborated on Franco’s 2020 horror film The Rental—reflected on the pressures of fame, their creative partnership, and the balance between privacy and honesty in the public eye.

“We’ve been talking about our relationship and our marriage a lot more lately,” Brie said. “It’s been cathartic but also a little scary, because we’re not used to putting so much of ourselves out there.”

Franco, who has been directing more in recent years, added that working together has strengthened their bond. “There’s no ego between us. We trust each other fully, and that makes the creative process easier—whether it’s tackling a horror script or just navigating life.”

Despite the challenges of Hollywood, both say their biggest priority is keeping their partnership grounded. “At the end of the day, it’s about us, not the industry,” Brie said. “And that’s what makes everything else manageable.”
