Prince William and Kate Middleton are preparing to settle into a new residence that royal insiders say could be their “forever home.”
The couple, along with their three children, are expected to move into Adelaide Cottage, a Grade II-listed lodge located within Windsor Home Park, just a short walk from Windsor Castle. Built in 1831 for Queen Adelaide, wife of King William IV, the property has long been part of the royal estate and is steeped in history.
Adelaide Cottage combines classic 19th-century architecture with modern updates, offering four bedrooms and extensive grounds. Unlike Kensington Palace, where the Prince and Princess of Wales currently reside, the Windsor property is seen as a quieter and more family-oriented setting, with direct access to the castle’s sprawling parkland.
Sources close to the royals say the move reflects William and Kate’s desire to give their children — Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis — a more private and grounded upbringing, away from the bustle of London life.
The lodge has previously been used by senior royal staff and visiting dignitaries, but renovations in recent years have prepared it for long-term family use. For William and Kate, it is seen not just as another house in the royal portfolio, but as the place they hope to build lasting family memories.
